Danang Eyes Top – Tier Future
A new – town project in Danang has the goal of lifting the city’s profile internationally, enabling it to truly rival the nation’s main economic hubs.

CORPORATE
INFORMATION Daewon Group is a Korean company which was
established in 1972 in Busan, Korea. The group is specialized in textiles and
garments and real estate industry. The company has penetrated Vietnam market
since 2002. At present, its business here involves in those two fields, with the
main focus on housing development. The following are Daewon

Danang City’s
authori-ties have issued an investment license to Daewon Cantavil Construction
Co., to build the Daphuoc International Urban Zone, hoping the project will pave
the way for improving the city’s image as well as advancing its ef-forts to be
the country’s main in-vestment hub.
Danang already is
the economic hub of central Vietnam, just as Ha-noi is of the north and Ho Chi
Minh City of the south. But foreign investors are becoming, aware of its
potential, and its still unclaimed opportunl-ties having realized that the other
two hubs are nearing capacity. However, the Daphuoc project is just one of many
that have recently been announced for the develop-ment of
Danang.
The project involves a new town called Daewon
Daphuoc International New Town or D – Town, Eung-sik Chun Daewon Construction
Co., Ltd first deputy general director said “ D – Stands for Danang, Daewon and
both parties “dreams” The new town is in Daphuoc, which has a beautiful
outlook to the beach. The project has an investment capital of US$250 million,
the biggest ever in the city. It is located on 210 hect-ares, with one side
facing Danang. Beach and the other the Han
River.
“Danang is in the center of Vietnam and Southeast
Asia” said Chun “ As it is at the eastern end point of the East – West Economic
corridor, which runs from Myan-mar to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Danang will be
the region’s center for trading, transportation, tourism and financial
activity. |

Tourism
hub. As Danang has a very good location and natural
beauty, it is becoming a center for Vietnam tourism. Many tourists have been
choosing the locality as their main destination. In addition, as there are many
places that have not been tapped or have been developed in an inappropriate way.
The oppor-tunities for the city’s development remain
extensive.
Seizing on this concept, Korea’s Daewon
Cantavil will make the town in the shape of the sickle moon. “ We looked to feng
shui concepts to shape D- Town,” said Howang Yu – nam executive director and
over – seas business team of Daewon Co., Ltd “ A sickle moon is a moon that is
going to be full step by step. It is similar to Danang City. The city has a lot
of potential. And step by step it is using its potential to develop.One day it
will be complete.”
The developer also revealed that with
this project it is looking to tourists who want high – end services. All
services in the town will be of five star standard. The project’s
development objectives include commercial, conference and hotel buildings,
residential buildings, houses and villas, resorts, golf courses, an
international school and a cultural center.
The special
feature of this project is an area devoted to commercial and conference
buildings and hotels, which spreads right into the sea at Danang beach. It will
look like a small island and is being promoted as the eye of the town, Danang
City , and Vietnam as a whole. This area will cover 120,410 square meters “ this
will be the first sea – encroaching town in Vietnam as well as in Southeast
Asia,” Chun said “ we want to take advantage of the beauty of the area’s natural
features facing the beautiful Danang, Beach”.
This
“small island” will have a commercial, conference and hotel building that might
have 50 to 60 floors. The building will have an area of 66,225 square meters.
The other part is devoted to enter-tainment, conference and sports centers. The
part reaching the sea will be devoted to a marina. This “island” will also have
areas for a shopping mall and cinema multi-plex.
The
town will have a big area for golf courses and villas, “Da Phuoc is a special
area of the city,” Chun said “ it has a unique terrain. A part of the area is
soft ground, so we will use it to develop golf courses”. More than 800,000
square meters of the town area will be for 18 – hole golf courses of an
international standard. Villas will cover 50,000 square
meters.
Along waterfront, Daewon Cantavil will place
tens of commercial and residential high – rise buildings. Behind will be villas
and houses. The feature of this part is a canal that opens to the sea. Houses
will be built along the canal. Residents will be able to travel by boat along
it, for transportation or for pleasure.
All elements of infrastructure
will be fully provided, Services will be provided by other investors who are
interested in the town. “At present many investors, have shown their interest in
developing their services in the town,” Chun said “ We expect that in the five
years period, the whole town will be fully occupied. We have experl-ence in
developing residential and commercial towns and centers like this, so we are
confident about our expectation.
“ D- Town will be
available with all kinds of services, including an international school and
cultural center. In addition we will call for investors to develop healthcare
services. So people who choose to live here, or investors who locate their
services here, or tourists who want to enjoy luxury and pleasure, will be
assured that all services will be
vailable.
Target Daewon Cantavil is
the sole investor of this project, which will be divided into two phases, “ Our
purpose is to develop infrastructure and we will call for investors to develop
services,” Chun said “ So within the 10 – year period, we will have all
infrastructure available. Investors can come in during the construction or
later, after it is completed, we will start the second phase after the first
one. We won’t wait until the first phase is fully
occupied.”
Da Phuoc had long been chosen as the pick of
the bunch by developers looking for Danang projects. Many developers domestic as
well as international submitted their rojects to the authorities. However, since
Daewon Cantavil’s project is most in conformity with the city’s development plan
and had special features that added to the city’s value, it was selected after
one year of procedural checking.
According to Daewoo
Cantavil, D – Town is the eye of the city, so it will be open for everyone to
enter, just like other towns. The project will be under construction within 10 –
years including land reclamation. The duration of the project license is 50
years “ The project is our long- term commitment to Vietnam,” Chun
said.
